Arielle
Arielle Goldberger is the oldest of three children. She was 9 years old when her mother got breast cancer and she was afraid that her mother would die. Arielle confided her fears to her parents and to an aunt she's close to, and they helped her understand and cope with her feelings. Arielle and her friends make and sell beaded jewelry and so far they have raised $200 for a breast cancer resource centre.
Sara
Sara Ferlito is a butcher who works in her family's business. A year and a half ago, at the age of 25, she found out she had Hodgkin's Disease, a cancer of the lymph system. Determined to maintain as normal a life as possible, Sara has continued to work and socialize with friends and family. Sara believes her positive attitude has played a big part in her ability to cope.

Ian
and Margery
Ian Hay
teaches Spanish and French at an inner city high school. Two years ago he
learned he had colon cancer. He had surgery, followed by chemotherapy. Ian
also decided to explore the possible benefits of a cancer support group and
therapeutic touch.
It wasn't Ian's first experience with cancer. Ten years ago his wife Margery was diagnosed with breast cancer that spread to one lung. A lab technician at the time, she went back to university and got her Master's Degree and her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences and now does research on endangered species.

Sonia
Sonia Huie had raised two children and just separated from her husband of 27 years when she discovered she had multiple myeloma - cancer of the bone marrow. Sonia had chemotherapy followed by a peripheral stem-cell transplant. That was almost five years ago. Today, Sonia works part-time as a bookkeeper and volunteers with a cancer support agency. She practices journalling and relaxation therapy, and a devout Anglican, she believes in the power of prayer.
