CD-ROM Series

It is Digital Rain’s plan to develop a C.O.P.E. series- a series of CD-ROMs and companion websites exploring how patients and their families and friends cope with a number of different diseases. At the present time, we are working on a CD-ROM designed to help parents cope with their children’s Hemophilia, and we are exploring the development of a Cope with HIV and AIDS CD-ROM.

Web Site Development

The current Cope with Cancer site is a temporary resource intended to introduce visitors to the Cope with Cancer CD-ROM and to explain how it was created, its purpose, its contents, and how one can obtain a free copy. As well, the current site serves as a resource bank, directing users to various resources for useful and comprehensive information about cancer.

What we envision for the future is a C.O.P.E. resource centre, where users will access the most accurate and up-to-date information about cancer and other diseases, as well as come together for support and advice. This C.O.P.E. centre will provide information for patients, their families and friends. There will be chat rooms and bulletin boards for patients, mediated by health care professionals, and video broadcasts by healthcare professionals responding to e-mailed questions talking about how to cope with specific diseases. Patients with the same disease and those supporting someone with a disease will be able to post their feelings, seek advice and share inspirational stories. As well, there will be an interactive gaming and learning centre for children, and a resource bank for everyone, including a section on nutrition with hundreds of disease-related recipes.
